The company behind the checklist

About Golden Star Commercial Cleaning

Golden Star Commercial Cleaning is a Melbourne company that cleans offices, shops, hospitality venues and managed buildings on written programs. This page is for anyone deciding whether to let us hold their keys: who we are, how we work, what you can check, and why we run specialist sister sites. If you want the service detail first, our page on commercial cleaning across Melbourne covers it.

Who we are

Who is Golden Star Commercial Cleaning?

Golden Star Commercial Cleaning is a commercial cleaning company based in Melbourne. We run regular, periodic and one-off cleaning for business premises, using our own checklists and a fixed crew for each site, and we lead a small network of specialist cleaning services.

Our clients are mostly the people who carry the problem when a clean goes wrong. Office managers who field the complaints about the kitchen. Store owners who open the doors at nine and cannot afford a grubby entry. Facility managers who have to prove to building owners that the contractor turned up.

That shaped the business. We would rather show you what we did than tell you we are good at it, so every program is written down before it starts and recorded as it goes. A new client should be able to read our scope and know exactly what happens in their building on a Tuesday night.

We are a commercial cleaner first. Homes come into it only at the end of a lease, when a move-out clean has to satisfy an exit inspection. Everything else we do is for businesses: workplaces, trading floors, venues and the shared parts of commercial property.

How we work

How does Golden Star run a cleaning program?

Every program follows three steps: we inspect the site with you, we clean it to an agreed written scope, and we verify the work with a record after each visit and a review with you on site. The steps are the same for a two-room office and a busy shopping strip.

1

Inspect

We walk the premises before any price is given. We look at floor surfaces, the number of bathrooms and kitchens, how staff use the space, where the bins go and how we get in after hours.

You tell us what bothers you about the current clean. That list matters more than anything we measure.

2

Clean

The scope splits your site into areas, with each task marked nightly, weekly or monthly. The same crew works from it each visit, so they learn the building instead of rediscovering it.

When a regular cleaner is away, the replacement follows the same written list.

3

Verify

Each visit ends with a completion record: tasks done, time on site and anything the crew noticed, from a dripping tap to a door that will not latch.

We check in after the first two weeks and walk the site with you each quarter after that.

The detail behind each service, from nightly office programs to day porters, is set out on our commercial cleaning services page.

Credentials

Which credentials can you check before we start?

You can check our ABN, our public liability insurance and our police-check process before a single key changes hands. We send the insurance certificate with every proposal, and we are glad to answer questions about how our cleaners are employed and paid.

Police checks are a national check, issued through Victoria Police or the Australian Federal Police, and they matter most where cleaners work alone after hours with alarm codes. We hold keys in a register, sign them out to named crew members and return them when a site changes hands.

Pay matters here more than people think. Cleaning is a labour business, so when one quote comes in far below the others, the gap usually comes out of wages or out of the hours on site. We build every price on award rates and the real time a site takes, and we will show you the hours behind the number if you ask.

If your lease or building rules ask for anything more, such as site inductions or a copy of our safe work procedures, tell us at the walk-through and it goes into the proposal.

Our specialist network

Why does Golden Star lead a network of specialist sites?

Golden Star leads a group of specialist cleaning services because some work needs its own equipment, training and records. Windows at height, roof gutters, warehouses, strata common property, gyms, schools and childcare each have a dedicated site and crew within the network.

We learned this the practical way. A general crew can mop a gym floor, but a gym owner wants someone who knows which disinfectant is safe on rubber matting and how often the free weights need wiping in January. A childcare centre wants a cleaner who understands nappy change hygiene. A warehouse needs people trained around forklifts.

Keeping those services separate means each one can go deep on its own trade. It also means you are not paying a general cleaner to learn on your site. If your building needs more than one kind of work, we line the visits up so they fit around each other.

Medical and dental practices are not on the list above. Clinical cleaning runs under infection control rules, and a practice deserves a specialist who works to those rules from the first visit.

Next step

How do you book an assessment with Golden Star?

Send a request through the contact page with your suburb and what sort of site you have. We reply by email to set a time, walk the site with you, and follow up with a written scope and price. The assessment costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Bring the things that annoy you about your current clean, plus any cleaning clause from your lease. If you manage several sites, list them all, since one walk-through often covers the pattern for the rest.

Questions

What else do people ask about Golden Star?

Three things people tend to want settled once they know who we are. Anything else, ask us at the walk-through.

Are you insured?
Yes. Golden Star Commercial Cleaning holds public liability insurance for all of its commercial work. The certificate of currency comes attached to every proposal, so your landlord, agent or facility manager can file it and check the cover before our first visit.
Who owns the specialist sites?
The specialist sites are part of the Golden Star network, which this business leads. Each one focuses on a single kind of work, such as gutters or gym floors, with its own crews and checklists. You can deal with any of them directly or come to us first.
What work does Golden Star turn down?
We turn down biohazard and trauma cleans, asbestos, and jobs that call for ladders taller than a step or a raised work platform. Each of those needs a licensed specialist. If your site needs one of them, we say so at the assessment and point you to someone suitable rather than attempting it.
