Apartments, studios and penthouses
House Cleaning in Melbourne CBD
Home cleaning in the city usually means apartment cleaning, and our house cleaning in Melbourne CBD is set up for exactly that: regular weekly or fortnightly visits, one-off deep cleans and cleans before guests arrive, done by the same small team who learn your building's access routine. We clean studios, one and two bedroom apartments and larger sub-penthouses across the Hoddle Grid, Southbank and Docklands. This page explains what a visit covers, how scheduling works with concierge and fobs, and what it costs. Our business cleaning in the city is covered on the Melbourne CBD service page.
Apartment cleaning
What is house cleaning in Melbourne CBD really like?
House cleaning in Melbourne CBD is really apartment cleaning. Homes are compact, often with open-plan kitchens and living areas, one or two bathrooms and a balcony. A regular visit takes two to three hours for most apartments, and the main work is the kitchen, bathroom, floors and dust that city living produces.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics counts almost every home in the CBD as an apartment, and its 2021 census found that 71% of CBD homes were rented, with many residents being students and young professionals. That mix shapes what people ask for: regular light cleans for busy workers, occasional deep cleans before guests or family arrive, and cleans before handing an apartment back.
City dust is real. Traffic and construction put a fine grey film on balcony glass, window sills and any surface near an openable window. In a small apartment it spreads quickly to shelves, screens and the tops of kitchen cupboards. A regular visit keeps it under control, and a deeper clean every few months deals with the places a weekly clean does not reach.
Short-stay apartments are a separate case. If you host guests, a turnover between stays follows its own checklist, with linen and supplies reset to your standard, and we can quote that separately.
What is included
What is included in a regular apartment clean?
A regular apartment clean includes kitchen benches, sink, cooktop and appliance fronts, the bathroom and toilet, dusting of surfaces, beds made if you leave fresh linen out, floors vacuumed and mopped, bins emptied, and the balcony swept. Ovens, fridges, windows and walls can be added as extras when they need it.
- Kitchen benches and splashback
- Cooktop and appliance fronts
- Bathroom, shower and toilet
- Mirrors and taps polished
- Surfaces and shelves dusted
- Beds made with your linen
- Floors vacuumed and mopped
- Bins emptied to the chute
- Balcony swept
Rubbish chutes and waste rooms are part of apartment life. We take bins to the chute or the waste room on your floor, sort recycling the way your building asks, and never leave bags in corridors. Bulky items and hard rubbish are your building manager's call, not ours.

Local scheduling
How do visits work with city building access?
Visits work around your building's access rules. Most clients either leave a fob with concierge, use a lockbox, or are home when the cleaner arrives. We agree a regular day and time window, and the same cleaner follows the same routine so concierge staff get to know them.
Daytime visits during the working week are the easiest in the city. Lifts are quieter, visitor parking or loading bays are more likely to be free, and building staff are on hand if an access card does not work. Evening and weekend visits are possible but cost more because of award rates for cleaners.
Security is taken seriously in apartment buildings, and so it should be. Keys and fobs are recorded against the cleaner who holds them, never labelled with your address, and returned immediately if you end the service. If your building needs contractors registered with management, we handle that directly.
Allergies and product preferences are worth mentioning too. Some residents prefer fragrance-free products or have sensitivities to particular chemicals, and small apartments with poor airflow make strong smells linger. Tell us when you book and the cleaner will bring products that suit, or use your own if you prefer.
Pets are welcome. Tell us about them when you book, including whether they should stay in a room or on the balcony while the vacuum runs.
Prices
What does apartment cleaning cost in the city?
Apartment cleaning in the city is quoted per visit after we see photos or the apartment itself. As a Melbourne market guide, home cleaning typically works out at about $45 to $65 per cleaner hour, and most CBD apartments take two to three hours for a regular clean.
That means a regular clean of a one or two bedroom apartment usually lands somewhere between about $100 and $190 a visit, depending on its condition, how often we come and what extras you add. The first visit is often longer if the apartment has not had a thorough clean for a while.
A deep clean before the first regular visit is sometimes worth it. If the oven, shower and floors have gone a few months without proper attention, one longer session resets the apartment, and every regular visit after that is quicker and cheaper. We will say honestly whether your place needs it.
Fortnightly visits cost a little more each time than weekly ones, because more builds up between them, but less over a month. Our quote suggests a rhythm, and switching between weekly and fortnightly later is simple.

How do you get an apartment cleaning quote?
Send your building, apartment size and preferred visit frequency through the contact form, with a couple of photos if you can. We reply with a fixed price per visit and a suggested day and time.
If you are after a one-off deep clean before guests or before selling, mention it, and we will quote that separately from the regular visits.
