At a glance
Which commercial cleaning services do we offer?
Golden Star offers commercial cleaning services in three groups: scheduled programs that repeat every week, one-off cleans for a particular moment such as a move or a fit-out, and specialist work like carpets or kitchen exhausts that needs its own equipment.
| Group | Services | When people book it |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled | Regular and after-hours cleaning, day porters, multi-site contracts | You want the place kept clean week in, week out |
| One-off | Deep cleans, spring cleans, builders cleans, end of lease | Something has changed: a move, a fit-out, an audit, a slide in standards |
| Targeted | Sanitisation and disinfection | Illness on site, shared kitchens, or a client who asks for it |
| Specialist | Carpets, kitchen exhausts, pressure washing | A surface needs machines a nightly crew does not carry |
Every service starts the same way, with a walk-through and a written scope, so you can mix them. A typical office might run a regular program three nights a week, add a spring clean each January and book carpets twice a year. We price each part separately so you can see what you are paying for.
If you are not sure where your site fits, think about what went wrong with the last cleaner. Missed bins and grubby bathrooms point to a regular program with the wrong hours or too few visits. A building that looks tired even straight after a clean needs a deep clean first. Complaints during the day, not at night, usually mean you need a porter rather than a bigger night crew.
Size matters less than use. A 300 square metre call centre with sixty staff and one kitchen needs more cleaning time than a 900 square metre showroom with six people in it. That is why we ask how many people use the site, when they arrive and leave, and which rooms see visitors, before we suggest a single service.
02What is regular and after-hours cleaning?
It is the nightly or weekly clean that keeps a workplace usable: bins, kitchens, bathrooms, floors and touch points, done after staff leave by a crew who comes back to the same site each time.
Most offices choose between two and five visits a week. Busy shops and venues often need every night. The checklist separates daily jobs from weekly and monthly ones, so the deeper tasks rotate through without blowing out the visit length.
Timing is built around how you use the building. We can start at six for an office that empties early, or after ten for a gym or bar. Keys, alarm codes and lock-up steps are written into the scope so nothing depends on memory.
03When does a site need a deep or one-off clean?
A site needs a deep clean when the regular visits can no longer catch up: grime in grout, dust on vents, marks on walls, stains around bins. A one-off clean suits a reopening, an inspection or a new cleaner starting fresh.
We move furniture, scrub hard floors with a machine and reach the places a nightly crew skips. It takes longer and costs more per visit, but it resets the building so ongoing cleaning holds.
New clients often book one before their regular program begins. It clears months of build-up in one go, which means the nightly crew spends its hours maintaining the site rather than fighting old grime, and your regular price stays lower as a result.
04What does a commercial spring clean cover?
A spring clean is a planned, once-a-year reset: cupboards emptied, fridges cleared, high surfaces dusted, walls spot-cleaned and floors given more than a mop. Many clients time it for January or the end of the financial year.
It differs from a deep clean in one way. It is booked in advance as part of the year, so staff can clear desks and stores beforehand. Carpets and internal glass often get done on the same weekend.
We send a short preparation list a week out: what staff should clear from desks, which cupboards we will empty, and where we will stack items while we work. That keeps the weekend clean on schedule and stops anything personal ending up in the wrong box.
05Do you offer sanitisation and disinfection?
Yes. We clean surfaces first and then apply a disinfectant to the ones people touch most, such as handles, taps, lift buttons and shared keyboards, following the product's contact time. It can run on a schedule or as a response visit.
Businesses book it after a gastro or flu run through the staff, for shared kitchens, and where a client or tenant asks for it in writing. We record which areas were treated and with what.
Disinfectants are chemicals, so our crews follow WorkSafe Victoria's guidance on cleaning industry hazards, including ventilation and protective gloves. We choose products that suit the surface, so stainless steel, timber and screens are not damaged by the treatment.
06What does a janitorial or day porter service do?
A day porter is a cleaner on site during business hours. They restock bathrooms, deal with spills, empty overflowing bins, keep lobbies presentable and handle the small jobs that cannot wait for the night crew.
It suits large tenancies, shopping centres, busy lobbies and any building where a messy bathroom at 2pm reflects on the owner. Shifts can cover the full day or just the lunch rush.
A porter also acts as your eyes during the day. They report a blocked toilet or a leak before it becomes a complaint, and they hand notes to the night crew so the evening clean starts with the right priorities.
07How does contract cleaning work?
Contract cleaning is a written agreement covering the scope, visit schedule, price, reporting and service levels for one or more sites. Our standard version is month to month; longer terms are available for clients who want them.
Contracts matter most for chains and property portfolios, where one format across every site makes auditing simple. We include how issues are reported, how fast they are fixed and how either side can end the agreement.
Every price we quote is built on the pay rates in the Cleaning Services Award, which change each July. The contract says how that yearly adjustment is handled, so a price change never arrives as a surprise.

08What is a builders clean?
A builders clean removes construction dust and debris after a fit-out or refurbishment so the space can be handed over. It usually runs in two stages: a rough clean once trades finish, then a detailed clean just before occupation.
Fine plaster and timber dust keeps settling for days, so a single pass rarely holds. We clean window frames, light fittings, joinery inside and out, and strip protective films.
Tell us the handover date and the builder's sequence. We plan the rough clean around the last trades on site and the final clean for the day before keys are handed over, so the new space looks finished when your staff walk in.
09Do you handle end of lease cleaning?
Yes, for both business and residential tenancies. For commercial premises we work to the make-good clause in your lease. For homes we work room by room against the condition report so the property is ready for the exit inspection.
We clean after the removalists leave, not before, and we can come back if the agent flags anything we missed on the checklist. Timing is set around your handover date.
Commercial tenants: check the make-good clause first. Some leases name particular surfaces, such as carpet that must be hot-water extracted by a professional. Send us that clause with your enquiry and it goes straight into the scope.

10Which specialist services can be added?
Specialist services cover carpet extraction, kitchen exhaust and canopy cleaning, and pressure washing of entries, car parks and bin areas. They can be booked once or set on a cycle inside your regular program.
Window cleaning at height and roof gutters are handled by our sister services in the Golden Star network, and we coordinate the visits so they fit around yours.
Specialist jobs are often booked on a cycle: carpets every six or twelve months, exhaust canopies every quarter in a busy kitchen, and entries washed before the winter rain. We keep the dates on your schedule and remind you before each one.

11How do you get a quote for any of these?
Book a free site assessment. We walk the premises with you, agree which services make sense, and send a written quote with each one priced on its own line. You can take one service, several, or none.
If you already know you need a single job, such as a builders clean on a set date, say so in the form and we will scope just that. Typical price ranges are on our commercial cleaning prices page.
The walk-through usually takes half an hour. Bring anyone who has opinions about the current clean, because the best scopes come from the people who use the building every day.

Questions
What do clients ask about combining services?
Most questions about our services come down to three things: whether you can combine them, whether each one comes with records, and how quickly a new service can start. The answers are yes, yes, and usually within two weeks of signing off the scope.
